29 April…I’m on the road. Left Fl about 0500 this morning…nice weather until I hit Alabama north of Dothan…in and out of rain all the way to Jasper Al…spending the night in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel after an uneventful 585 miles….gonna be really quiet tonight. I was going to take the southern route out but decided to turn north west and head straight to Oklahoma and my buddies place in Meno.
The van pulls the trailer and buggy just fine…fuel economy is right at 18 mpg…good. Total weight it ‘s pulling is around 3300 pounds…well under my rated 5000 pound limit.

30 April….easy 500 mile day today….stopped in Ft Smith AR at another Cracker Barrel….I’m the only one here but there may be more travelers later tonight…got the bugs cleaned off the front of the van and the satellite TV is cooking….watching The First 48…my favorite crime series….finished off the sandwich I bought at Publix before I left and now enjoying 4 Oreo cookies….and cold milk….I’ll be at my friend Rocky’s place in Meno OK tomorrow….will be good to get the buggy unloaded so we can see if we can roll the thing over….hope not haha.
Been waving at the truckers that pass by me on the Interstates….most wave back or toot their horns….they give me plenty of room before they come back over in the lane….nice guys and girls. The CB radio is mostly silent these days…don’t know why. When I get to 3 Step I’ve got to get back to my walks….I put on a bit of weight in my belly the past coupled of months sitting at the condo in FL watching TV….geez.

Man I do love my Big Tex trailer….that thing pulls so nice and is well built….I should’ve taken the photo directly from the side as there is a bit of perspective distortion making the buggy and trailer look fat in the rear.

Checked in with mom….she’s doing well….we’re all glad about that….a year or so ago it was a different story but she pulled through everything and is living life nicely….not many 90 year olds can take care of themselves as good as she can….bravo for her.
4 May….been a bit tardy with the updates…having too much fun here in Oklahoma at Rocky’s place….his family has been wonderful with their limitless hospitality and friendship….Meno OK is one of my favorite places to visit when I travel back and forth across the country.

Saturday….Leeanna, Rock’s wife even brought out lunch for us…nice!

Yesterday we went to the OCCRA (Oklahoma Cross Country Racing Association) so Ryan could race the 50cc and the 65 cc races. He has a beautiful KTM 50 and a brand new Yamaha 65.

Back at 3 Step Hideaway for a few weeks. Itโs good to be back exploring with the buggy. Hereโs a photo on top of Deerneck Mesa looking towards Moab.

12 May….about time I did a little update…been having too much fun exploring, eating, and taking naps ๐

Texas is open again as of May 1. The Texas DPS checkpoints have been closed, and the mandatory 14-day quarantine for travelers has been lifted for LA and FL residents (except Miami). State park campgrounds are still closed for at least 2 more weeks. No definite plans, but I’m still hoping to get to the TX Hill Country this spring, and maybe further west. Can’t wait for things to settle down.

Glad you’ve gotten back to doing what you do best, and that is inspiring the rest of us to get out there and get on the road! Glad your Mom is doing well. And I’m with ya about wanting things settling down. I might be in SW TX later in May. In the planning stages now. Safe travels T2.

Wouldn’t you know that the travel restrictions on I-10 were lifted just as you avoided the mess by taking the north route. That’s okay but I would have loved to get a good look at the buggy. You will either stop in or our paths will cross again. Be safe and give my best regards to Scott, Julie and their puppies. Catch you on the flip side. Greg
