2 Jan Continued….mexican rice and chicken for lunch today…easy…it’s 1400 and still only 36 degrees…wind is steady around 25 to 30 mph…haven’t gotten out of my pajamas all day…watching movies, and napping…nice to have a day off from driving…clear shies now…solar panels are cooking…batteries are fully charged and ready for action.

3 January…left the campground around 0700 and headed towards Deming NM for the night…pretty short day as the wind was terrible and it wore me out…at the Walmart tonight…replaced the piece of crap Chulux coffee maker with a proper Keurig machine…thing works great…let’s see how long it last…I should be in Quartzsite Thursday…that’s the day I’m supposed to meet some friends that are camping there.

6 January…had a snowy drive over the pass near Ruidoso the other day…met my two good friends Vee and Anthony near Quartzsite yesterday…we headed out to our favorite boondocking site off Plomosa Road just north of the town of Bouse…high desert, hardly anyone around, quiet…beautiful views all around…got the camp set up and started the mandatory chilling in the chairs…Vee went to town this morning and brought back a bunch of firewood…all good…I’m probably gonna be in this spot for a couple of weeks…don’t know the other’s plans but we will see.

Mine and Vee’s vans and Anthony’s condo tent…the tent has LED lighting, central heat, queen sized bed, and a large cast iron bath tub.

Our front yard

Sunset last night

It’s about noon…Vee and Anthony are still nursing hangovers from last night ๐Ÿ™‚

7 January….last night was really nice…good friends…good conversation…good fire…life is good.

9 Jan….so far so good here at the campsite…weather has been pleasant…got some good rides on the eBike…so much fun…only charged it one time so far and it was only half discharged at the time…Vee got more firewood from town this morning so a nice fire is in the works for tonight…if the wind calms down…it’s been blowing a bit today and there’s lots of dust in the air…I haven’t been out of the van very much…watching some interesting videos on You tube about the homeless crisis her in the states…no solution in sight…my niece Facetimed yesterday…all is well…makes my day when I hear from her.

10 Jan…out exploring the canyons around the campsite…again, the ebike is awesome.

Around noon my friends Jane and Bob from Colorado called…they were coming through the area…they stopped by for the night at the campsite…they have a beautiful home near Durango and travel all over the country in their awesome custom Sportsmobile Campervan…the thing is an offroad beast ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve been a guest at their house several times during my travels…was great to see them again. Vee is going to meet up with them in a couple of weeks and head down to Baja while I continued to wander aimlessly in the lesser 48 ๐Ÿ™‚

Felt sorry for this guy when he wandered into camp…gave him some food and sent him on his way.

14 Jan….we moved down to the south end of Plomosa Road yesterday…easy camp setup….had a GREAT pizza in town and got Vee’s water replenished…thought you’d like to see how I look when I eat stew ๐Ÿ™‚

Temp this morning was 46 degrees…got rain coming in…looking forward to it…knock the dust down and make good reading weather…if it gets too crowded with RV rift raft here we’ll move.

20 Jan…after a great two weeks boondocking near Quartzsite with Vee and her friends I headed up to Lake Havasu City to visit my two good friends Susan and Phillip…they so kindly let me order things from Amazon to be delivered to their casa.

The camp on Plomosa Road

My new waffle iron…it’s a teeny tiny waffle making monster!

A teeny tiny waffle

Also get a nice jumpstarter

And a four inch thick memory foam mattress pad…gonna see if it makes things a bit more comfortable…put it under the 8 inch memory foam mattress cause it’s easier to get the sheet on.

22 Jan…had a great visit with my friends Susan and Phillip in Lake Havasu City…always nice to see them….while I was there Phillip asked if I wanted to go fro a ride in his 1966 200hp Volkswagen show car…Holy Mamma of Jesus what a ride…that thing doesn’t weight much more than a donut and goes like a rocket!…there was no way the policeman could keep up with us hehehehe.

I’m back at my favorite boondocking spot near Bouse…Vee is headed to Baja with friends…I’m sure they’re gonna have a great time…told them next year they can be the guides and I’ll tag along ๐Ÿ™‚

I like people…a few people…I enjoy conversations and friendly arguments…I enjoy knowing another human is near…sometimes…I’m alone now…don’t read that as pitiful…I enjoy my own company and get a kick out of arguing with myself…I always win…others are on they way to personal adventures…me…I’m sitting quietly with a cuppa looking out across the desert expanse that is my front yard…not a breath off wind…cool and crisp…problems have dissapated…well, very little is a problem anymore for me…there is a quietness in the desert that words alone can’t describe…you have to be here…I set up camp easily these days…I have a system and know exactly what I need to do…took a nap as I got up at 0230 this morning in Kingman…was going elsewhere but decided to head back to the Quartzsite area…everything I need is here…I know where to do to get water, showers, food, Makers Mark bourbon, (yes I’m trying to learn how to drink a nice small bourbon around the campfire), and quietness ๐Ÿ™‚

23 Jan…I’ve only left my lights one other time that I can remember and discharged my starter battery…yesterday was the second…got to my campsite around 0900 and left the lights turned on all day…someone must have been watching over me when I bought the jump starter thing last week…went to lock the doors last night and…nothing…van totally dead…looked at my light switch and yep, turned to the on position…hooked the jump starter thing up and fired the van up without any problems…let the van idle for an hour to recharge the starter battery and all is well…appears to be no damage to the van battery…fired up again this morning easily…the $150 I paid for the jump starter thingy was well with it.

Went for my walk this morning…oh man it’s cold…only around 40 but the wind is howling…couldn’t wait to get back in the van, put my pajamas back on, and fire up Youtube.

Watched a couple of new videos from my friends Roger and Patrick…can’t wait to get back to the North Carolina mountains for some riding on the Rally! I may head back to Fl in a couple of weeks, pick up the trailer and the bike, then head to NC for my dentist appt on March 9…then ride.

Couple of nice walks and bike rides today…if you want to see where I’m camped just look for this sign ๐Ÿ™‚
