24 March….another beautiful morning here in the humidity capital of the world….Florida….coffee and one egg for brekkie….about to take my niece and one of her friends to school….fun….drove the Civic up and back to NC to get a crown reattached the other day…averaged over 40 mph @80 mph…oh yeah that’s nice.
I’ve come to the conclusion that all vanlife videos now are only about cooking, starting a campfire, or complaining about things that, if they had any common sense, would not be a problem…all will put you to sleep in less than 47 seconds…so boring.
26 March….it seems most RV videos on YouTube these days are about campers falling apart….people have been sold pieces of shit for years….I’m so glad I built my own and know every nut, bolt, and electrical connection….I really can’t remember ANY failure from my work during almost eight years of bliss….sure, things wear out or need maintenance but some of the silly crap I’ve seen makes me shake my head.
2 April….a rainy day here today….started testing to make sure everything is set for the coming heat and humidity of Florida….when I’m not traveling in cooler areas I’m going to be nice and cool when I’m back at my legal domicile in Florida….with both AC units running they only draw a combined 43 amps out of the batteries on the lowest setting….even at that setting they will be able to keep me super chilled on the hottest days….with 640 ah of batteries I can run both of them continuously for over 14 hours….I’ll never need to run them that long but it’s great to know I can.
Planning to head out to southern Colorado the end of this month if the fuel prices come down…my buddy Jeff just bought a nice home on 35 acres of land near Trinidad…I’ll head out and give him a hand with some projects on the property….will also try to stop by to see my great friends in Meno OK for a short visit…Rocky, I’ll let you know when to stock the beer cooler 🙂
Last night, my buddy Jeff took Alyx, her friend Grace, Alyx’s dad, and me for a drive in his cool military truck….you should hae seen the looks on people’s faces as we drove around town….ended up at a Texas Roadhouse for dinner…somehow the Princess talked me into paying for everybody’s meal….not a problem as I can’t take anything with me when I eventually croak.
5 April….another beautiful morning here at the parkup in FL….taking the camper to Asheville Vehicle Outfitters in Jacksonville Tuesday for some suspension work…the company who did the suspension a few years ago over sprung the rear….I don’t tow anything big these days and the ride is not pleasant….the guys are gonna take one or two leafs out of the rear springpack to soften the ride and level out everything….right now the rear is about one to two inches higher than the front….you know me…I want things mostly even and proper looklng.
Took the satellite TV dome off the camper….there’s nothing on TV these that is worth watching….these days I get all my entertainment and news off the net from folks I trust.
11 April….I’ve been breathing on my own for almost 74 years now….I’ve worked hard to put away some things that have made the winter of my life pretty easy….I’m sitting here eating a warm bowl of pasta with chicken, onions, mixed with my favorite sauce….it sat on the cooktop for an hour simmering….so good….a small bowl every now and then….after the second bowl I realized I’m living my life exactly the way I want….it’s now about doing just enough of what doesn’t matter to make tons of space for all the things that really do matter.
